There are several on-demand food delivery apps on the market, but DoorDash is one of the most popular and largest. As a result of their “Cash on Delivery” option, they remained competitive.
DoorDash drivers were able to accept cash payments from customers through this feature. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the service has been suspended.

How to Use DoorDash Cash on Delivery?
The “Cash on Delivery” feature on DoorDash works as follows. The most important thing to understand is that the drivers, or “Dashers,” choose whether or not to accept cash payments.
If a customer requests “Cash on Delivery,” DoorDash will notify dashers in the vicinity of the order. Dashers have the option of accepting or declining. It doesn’t affect their acceptance rate in any way if they decline.
The customer will pay the Dasher in person if they accept. DoorDash deducts their next scheduled direct deposit from the money they’ve collected.
While Cash on Delivery was still available on DoorDash recently, it wasn’t always easy to place an order.
It is unsurprising that few drivers prefer to handle cash or worry about getting paid in full. As online payments are more convenient, DoorDash’s orders are dominated by them.
You can also use DoorDash’s app to purchase gift cards. Those who don’t have anything but cash on them can use this workaround. You can either buy one in a store (which is somewhat counterproductive) or have a friend or family member do it for you.
Additional DoorDash Cash on Delivery FAQs
Drivers are only encouraged to accept “Cash on Delivery” if they have enough change for the customer. It is possible for the drivers to find themselves without enough change to give back to the customers if they make a mistake.
DoorDash’s protocol in this situation is to inform the customer first. As a result, they cannot hand over the delivery to the customer, but must return it to the restaurant.
They must contact DoorDash support and request another delivery. Drivers can be suspended from receiving “Cash on Delivery” orders if this occurs too frequently.
According to DoorDash, “Cash on Delivery” has been suspended on their app. Moreover, like many delivery companies, they have made “no-contact delivery” the default setting for all orders.
The “Leave it at my door” option will appear when a customer places the order. To ensure the Dasher completes the delivery, you can enter additional instructions.
During deliveries, dashers must also wear masks. Currently, it is unknown when DoorDash will resume offering “Cash on Delivery.”.
If you’re a Dasher, you should have enough change on hand for the delivery if it is paid for in cash. Both you and the customer benefit from it. You shouldn’t rely on the hope that the customer will leave a tip if you don’t have exact change.
Conversely, it can also happen the other way around. It is possible that the customer does not have enough cash to pay for the order.
Dashers will have to return the order to the restaurant if they cannot receive the order. Half of the guaranteed minimum amount is then paid to the Dasher.
Even though this can be uncomfortable for the Dashers, they must know that it is impossible. It is the Dasher’s responsibility to inform the customer that there has been a mistake and that they will have to return the food to the restaurant. If the Dasher encounters an issue, he or she must notify DoorDash support.
The “Cash on Delivery” system is currently discontinued, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Once the order had already been placed, you couldn’t switch to cash delivery even while it was still available. If you insist on paying in cash, you would have to cancel the current order and place a new one. Here’s how to cancel a DoorDash order via the app:
1. Go to the “Orders” tab in the DoorDash app.
2. Select “Help” in the top-right corner.
3. Click “Cancel Order” in the “Help Menu.” Or click “Cancel Order” under “Order Details.”
4. Follow the prompts on the screen.
Remember, however, that you can only cancel an order that hasn’t yet been delivered. If the restaurant hasn’t confirmed your order and the Dasher hasn’t been assigned, you will get a full refund.
If the restaurant has confirmed, but the Dasher hasn’t been assigned, a partial refund is possible. Last but not least, you will not receive a refund if both the restaurant confirmed and the Dasher was assigned to your order.
There is a tipping feature built into DoorDash’s app. You can rely on this system to secure a tip for the Dasher if you’re a tipper. On the app, you can select one of the recommended Dasher tips or manually enter the amount.
The idea of checking out the service before tipping, however, may be more comfortable with some people. As a result, they are left with the option of tipping in person with cash.
This system follows general service industry guidelines. You can add anywhere between 10-20% of the total bill’s cost as a tip.
Cash tips are appreciated by many DoorDash drivers since they can pocket the money right away and do not have to wait for DoorDash’s direct deposit. They are also able to see who tipped them when they tip with cash. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the app.
